Going into college, I didn’t think much about how the
process actually works. Learning that I had to get an advisor in my major’s
department was a new concept for me. It
was a task trying to find the psychology department office in Englemann, but
thanks to the maps, I found it pretty easily. The advisor for the psychology department is Mrs.
Virlinda Billups. Her office is located in END069, Office # (203) 392-6868. The
process for getting an advisor in the psychology department is quite simple.
First, you fill out a “declaration of major” form, along with another form
which you fill out initiating that you understand what is required to be
accepted into the major. Once you return the forms, she assigns you an advisor.
Because I’m a first year student, I was assigned a general psychology advisor.
Once I become accepted into the major, I can choose to stick with general
psychology, or focus on a track, which requires me to change an advisor.
